## Challenge

The epidemiologic and viral characteristics of undiagnosed HIV infections in Botswana during the high-coverage era had not been characterized, leaving a gap in understanding who remains undiagnosed despite high testing coverage.

## Solution

Target RWE's HIV team and Botswana Harvard AIDS Institute Partnership collaborators analyzed BCPP population survey data to characterize the epidemiologic and viral characteristics of undiagnosed HIV infections, identifying demographic groups with the highest burden.

## Impact

Characterizing who remains undiagnosed despite high testing coverage informs targeted HIV testing program design, helping prevention programs focus resources on the populations where diagnosis gaps are greatest.
