## Challenge

PrEP uptake, adherence, and persistence among South African women during the periconception period had been studied cross-sectionally but longitudinal patterns across conception attempts had not been characterized.

## Solution

Target RWE's HIV team and collaborators analyzed longitudinal PrEP use data among periconception South African women, characterizing uptake, objective adherence trajectories, and persistence patterns across conception attempts.

## Impact

Providing longitudinal PrEP adherence evidence for periconception South African women informs the design of adherence-enhancing interventions tailored to the specific demands of conception planning.

## Use Cases / Links

Longitudinal periconception PrEP adherence characterization for HIV prevention program design, Objective PrEP persistence evidence supporting adherence intervention development for South African women
