## Challenge

The prior lipid-lowering therapy history of patients initiating PCSK9 inhibitors had not been characterized in a large US population, creating gaps in understanding the clinical context of PCSK9 inhibitor use.

## Solution

Target RWE researchers characterized the history of lipid-lowering therapy use among adults initiating PCSK9 inhibitors, describing prior statin exposure, maximum tolerated doses, and evidence of statin intolerance in a real-world US commercial claims population.

## Impact

Documenting that PCSK9 inhibitor initiators have extensive prior lipid-lowering therapy histories validates the real-world use of these agents in appropriate patient populations.
