## Challenge

Fusion study designs—which combine data from multiple sources to answer questions no single source can address—lacked practical epidemiologic examples demonstrating their implementation and estimation in approachable worked cases.

## Solution

Target RWE researchers and UNC collaborators published two illustrative fusion design examples in the American Journal of Epidemiology—one transporting a proportion to a target population and one correcting for measurement error—using HIV research as the motivating application.
