## Challenge

The clinical characteristics and risk factors for mortality and ICU requirements among pediatric COVID-19 patients hospitalized in the US were poorly understood and underrepresented in early COVID-19 studies.

## Solution

Target RWE researchers analyzed hospital chargemaster data to characterize pediatric COVID-19 inpatients across US hospitals, identifying clinical risk factors for ICU admission and in-hospital mortality using multivariable regression models.

## Impact

Characterizing pediatric COVID-19 severity and its risk factors fills a critical early evidence gap, supporting public health guidance on pediatric COVID-19 management and informing therapeutic intervention design.
